Growing together

Tobin Brothers Foundation generously funded a creative gardening project for Emerge women and children recovering from family violence.

Novice gardeners, both the women and children alike, had fun filling a large raised garden bed and planting it up. Participants – including Emerge staff – reported that they loved getting their hands in the soil and creating a garden from scratch. After planting out the edible flowers, herbs and vegetables, the children watered them in using brightly coloured watering cans and then stood back to admire their handy work.

Produce harvested so far from the garden includes juicy tomatoes and fresh herbs, both of which the women and children have enjoyed.
