Guiding our work and our impact

Emerge Women and Children’s Support Network supports women and children impacted by family violence to find safety, healing and long-term recovery.

Our work is guided by a clear vision, mission and set of values that shape how we support victim-survivors, work alongside our partners and advocate for change across the family violence sector.

Together, they reflect our commitment to delivering evidence-based services, stregthening early intervention for children and working to disrupt the cycles of family violence.

We place children at the centre of recovery and recognise early intervention as essential to breaking intergenerational cycles of family violence.

Our Vision

Driving innovative practice that disrupts the cycles of family violence.

Our vision reflects our commitment to leading change in the family violence sector — developing new approaches, strengthening therapeutic interventions and ensuring women and children have the support they need to live safely and independently.

Our Mission

We provide support to people who have experienced family violence toward safety, autonomy and healing, and to rebuild their lives.

Through specialist refuge accommodation, case management, outreach and therapeutic services, Emerge works alongside women and children to support recovery, rebuild confidence and reconnect with community.

We recognise children as victim-survivors in their own right and deliver evidence-based early intervention programs to support their healing, wellbeing and development.

Our Values

Our values guide how we work with clients, partners and each other.

Integrity

We act with honesty, transparency and accountability in everything we do. Integrity ensures that the women and children we support, as well as our partners and community, can trust the care, advocacy and leadership we provide.

Courage

We speak up for what is right and advocate for the rights of victim-survivors. Courage enables us to challenge the attitudes and systems that perpetuate family violence and work towards safer and more equal communities.

Kindness

Kindness drives connection, safety and healing. We approach our work with empathy, compassion and respect, recognising that kindness creates belonging and supports recovery.

Our Strategic Priorities

Emerge’s strategic direction is guided by four key priorities outlined in our Strategic Plan 2023–2026.

Strengthening organisational sustainability

Building diversified income streams and strong financial foundations to ensure the long-term sustainability of our services.

Supporting and developing our workforce

Investing in the wellbeing, safety and professional development of our staff to maintain a highly skilled and supported workforce delivering the best outcomes for clients.

Delivering best-practice, holistic services

Continuing to provide high-quality refuge, case management and therapeutic programs while strengthening evaluation and evidence-based practice.

Leading advocacy and system change

Working as leaders in the sector to influence public policy, raise awareness of family violence and advocate for improved systems and services for victim-survivors
