Advocating for system change
Emerge is committed to influencing policy and driving system reform to improve outcomes for women and children impacted by family violence.
Our advocacy is informed by frontline experience, evidence and the voices of victim-survivors.
We work to ensure systems are more responsive, integrated and effective.
Our advocacy priorities
We advocate for:
1. Increased investment in early intervention
Supporting children earlier to prevent long-term harm and disrupt cycles of violence.
2. Integrated, wraparound service responses
Ensuring women and children can access coordinated support across housing, legal, health and community services.
3. Access to safe and stable housing
Expanding crisis accommodation and long-term housing pathways for victim-survivors.
4. Child-centred service systems
Recognising children as victim-survivors in their own right and investing in specialised support.
5. Strengthening legal and justice responses
Improving access to legal support and creating more responsive, trauma-informed justice systems.

Our advocacy approach
We contribute to public policy, inquiries and sector reform through:
- Government submissions
- Participation in inquiries and consultations
- Sector collaboration and partnerships
- Amplifying the voices and experiences of victim-survivors
